Every woman’s life is a chapter in the unfolding story of our nation—written with resilience, courage, and hope. Across generations, women turned the pages of history, pushing past barriers toward equity, equality, and inclusivity. But this story is far from over. The next chapters depend on us—on the choices we make, the actions we take, and the commitments we uphold. When Women and Everyone (WE) come together, WE do more than tell a story—WE write a future where every voice is heard, every right is fulfilled, and every woman thrives .

This March, as the Philippine Commission on Women leads the nation once again in the commemoration of the National Women’s Month, WE call on all Filipinos to take part in this advocacy campaign.

Let us once again honor the immeasurable contributions of women to our nation’s progress. The National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) is more than a yearly tradition - it is a powerful call to action. It is an opportunity to recognize the vital role of women across all sectors and reaffirm our collective commitments to gender equality and women’s empowerment. Progress must not only be imagined but felt, lived, and sustained by all because no one must be left behind.

The 2025 sub-theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas” reflects our resolute vision for a nation where every woman—regardless of background or circumstance—thrives. It envisions a Bagong Pilipinas where women fully enjoy their rights, have equal access to opportunities, and live free from gender bias, violence, and discrimination.

Once again, WE are turning the page toward a future where women are not just seen but valued, not just heard but respected, not just included but empowered, and not just contributors to progress but are equal beneficiaries of its success.

However, declarations are not enough. This year’s NWMC must serve as an annual checkpoint—a moment to assess our progress and renew our commitment to transforming aspirations into concrete improvements in women’s lives. As underscored by the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028, inclusive growth must be felt by every Filipino woman, especially those in underserved and marginalized communities.

Thus, WE call on all stakeholders—the national government agencies, legislature and judiciary, local government units, all learning institutions including state universities and colleges, private sector, government-owned and controlled corporations, the United Nations and development partners, and the civil society and non-governmental organizations—to accelerate and expand our collective efforts in advancing gender equality and women empowerment.

Let us uplift the lives of Filipino women in all sectors—farmers, workers, fisherfolks, the urban poor, migrant workers, indigenous women, Muslim women, children, youth, senior citizens, women with disabilities, solo parents, victim-survivors of violence, women in indigenous communities, and those affected by climate change and armed-conflict, displacement and statelessness.

Let us fully enforce the Magna Carta of Women—ensuring women’s access to food security, affordable and decent housing, employment, livelihood, education, representation in decision-making process, and protection against discrimination and violence.

Let us redefine leadership with a feminist perspective—one that is people-centered, results-oriented, impact-driven, and built on care, empathy, inclusivity, and sincerity. The road to true gender equality is long and thorny, and the challenges are great—but so is our determination. WE will not slow down. WE will not turn back. WE will draw strength from each other, and WE will only push forward.

Gender equality is not a distant goal—it is a fight WE take on every day, in every choice WE make, and in every barrier WE break.

WE are not waiting for change; WE are driving it. WE are not asking for space; WE are reclaiming it. WE are not just empowering women; WE are redefining power itself and using it for the betterment of all, especially those who are marginalized and are already being left behind.

The Philippine Commission on Women stands in solidarity with Women and Everyone. Let us make this Women’s Month more than a celebration—let us turn this into a movement. A movement defined by actions and results, with evidence of real change in the lives of women. A movement that will ensure that our voices will not be silenced, our progress will not be reversed, and our vision for a just, inclusive, and equal society will not be denied. Tayong lahat, isang hakbang pa para sa mas maunlad na Bagong Pilipinas!

Join us. Advocate. Engage. Take action.

Because when WE work together, #WEcanbeEquALL.

Happy National Women’s Month!
