The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Balik Scientist Program (BSP) invites the public to attend the presentation of seven Filipino virologists who served as advisers in the creation of the Virology and Vaccine Institute of the Philippines (VIP) on May 3, 2022.
Inaanyayahan ng Balik Scientist Program ng Department of Science and Technology (DOST-BSP) ang lahat na makadalo sa Exit Report Presentation ng pitong Filipino virologists na tumayo ng gabay sa pagpapatatag ng Virology and Vaccine Institute of the Philippines (VIP) ngayong May 3, 2022.
The online event themed: “Building a Safer Future”, will feature the contributions of the seven experts in the development of local vaccines against the coronavirus disease (COVID19) and other diseases of humans, animals and plants.
Ang pagtitipong ito na pinamagatang “Building a Safer Future” ay itatampok ang mga kontribusyon ng pitong eksperto sa pagsasagawa ng lokal na bakuna laban sa COVID19 at ibang mga nakakahawang sakit sa tao, hayop, at mgahalaman.
One of the seven experts, Dr. Homer D. Pantua, who is passionate about vaccine research, will discuss his involvement in programs of the VIP on the development of diagnostic tools for African Swine Fever Virus (AFSV). Dr. Pantua is a scientist working on infectious disease drug discovery at Genentech in South San Francisco, California and a co-founder of BioAssets, a veterinary vaccines and diagnostic company in the Philippines. He has been working on anti-microbial discoveries for almost two decades.
Isa sa mga tampok na eksperto ay si Dr. Homer D. Pantua nahilig ang magsaliksik patungkol sa bakuna. Kasama sa kanyang itatampok ang kanyang naisagawang diagnostic tool para malaman kung ang baboy ay merong African Swine Fever Virus (AFSV). Si Dr.Pantua ay isang syentistang dalubhasa sa infectious disease drug discovery sa Genentech in South San Francisco, California at siyarin ang a co-founder ng Bio Assets na kumpanya. Sa loob ng dalawang dekada, patuloy ang pag-aaral at pananaliksik ni Dr. Pantua sa iba’t iba anti-microbial discoveries.
Another notable Balik Scientist who will share his accomplishments is Dr. Elpidio Cesar Nadala, Jr., who co-founded Diagnostics for the Real World, Ltd (DRW) in California, United States. He is a virologist and microbiologist with 20 years of experience in academic research and 17 years in the industry, developing diagnostic assays for the detection of bacterial and viral pathogens.
Ang isa pang Balik Scientist naitatampok sa pagtitipong ito ay si Dr. Elpidio Cesar Nadala na siyang co-founder ng Diagnostics for the Real World, Ltd (DRW) sa California, Estados Unidos. Si Dr. Nadala ay isang virologist at microbiologist sa loob ng mahigit 20 taon at 17 taon nasiyang nagbabahagi ng kanyang kaalaman sa indusriya sa pagsasagawa ng mga diagnostic assays na ginagamit upang madetect ang mga bacterial at viral pathogens.
Other experts who will be present during the activity are Dr. Teodoro M. Fajardo, Jr. of UK NEOAS, Dr. Christina Lora M. Leyson of Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory (SEPRL), Dr. Myra T. Hosmillo of the University of Cambridge, Dr. Leodevico L. Ilag of Molawin Creek Ventures Pty. Ltd and Xerion Ltd, and Dr. Lourdes M. Nadala of Real World, Ltd. (DRW).
